MACON, Ga.-- Ahead of Thanksgiving, some healthcare workers at Macon Piedmont received a very special visitor who brought them a meaningful gift.
“I had a banner made. It has ‘Better today than yesterday’ written on it,” Chris Hasty said holding the rolled-up sign.
And for Hasty, no mantra could be more true.
With each day, he does improve and gets stronger.
However, at the worst point of his battle with COVID-19, no one was sure if he would survive the virus.
“I love every one of y'all,” Hasty told the Piedmont Macon hospital workers. “I think about y'all often because I'm standing like this today because of the care and the love y'all showed to me when I was here. So thank y'all so much."
While Hasty could never say enough good things about the healthcare workers in Macon, he is quick to tell you a Higher Power came into play with a greater purpose in mind for his life.
“I'm a miracle, God was in control, and it was not my time,” Hasty said. “But my purpose and why he kept me on Earth, I haven't figured out yet.”
Both he and his wife Missy say the experience taught them a tremendous lesson they’ll never forget.
“I am thankful for the small things in life now. I don't, I don't want to take anything for granted anymore,” said Missy Hasty.
