Macon Bacon announce new mascot: Kevin
MACON, Ga. -- The Macon Bacon mascot is official -- and he has a familiar name.
Friday afternoon, Macon's new baseball team announced its mascot is a strip of bacon in a no. 6 baseball uniform named "Kevin" (Get it? Like actor Kevin Bacon from Footloose and other movies).
The Macon Bacon is a collegiate summer baseball team playing in the Coastal Plain League. Home games will take place at Luther Williams Field in Macon.
The Bacon's first game is set for May 31 on the road, while their first home game is June 1.
“This is a fun name that everyone will laugh with and about,” said Team President Todd Pund. “It’s simple, easy and puts a smile on faces of fans aged 8 to 80.”
Kevin was introduced to the world today in front of a screaming crowed of kids at the Boys and Girls Club of Central Georgia. Kids took pictures with Kevin, played wiffle ball and got autographs.
“Kevin will be a big hit with the kids and with adults.” said Pund. “He will be dancing and entertaining our fans and kids throughout Central Georgia.”
