Macon community celebrates passing of Marsy's Law
MACON, Ga. -- It’s National Crime Victim Week. Friday, people came together to celebrate the passing of Marsy's Law in Georgia.
Legislative Advocate Tamiko Pugh says it’s been almost a two-and-a-half year process.
Last year, it passed the Senate 50-55. This year, it passed the House of Representatives unanimously with 169 votes.
Friday, Pugh says during the Advocates Appreciation Luncheon that, as a community, they are celebrating everyone's support and hard work.
“We’re bringing all the advocates together from the Macon, Georgia area that really, really helped us," he said. "That were supportive. Because if it weren’t for a lot of them, we probably would not have passed. So we just want to say thank you and keep showing them a token of our appreciation.”
