MACON, Ga. -- Two health care centers in Macon-Bibb are getting financial support from American Rescue Plan funds.

Senators Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff said Monday they secured funding for health centers across the state.

In Macon, that'sCommunity Health Care Systems and First Choice Primary Care.

Community Health Care Systems is getting$739,349, while First Choice is getting$619,988.

First Choice Primary Care, a private non-profit center, tells us the grant money is intended for infrastructure. They intend to use the funds to improve and expand their clinical sites.

Last year, First Choice cared for more than 11,000 patients in Macon and Warner Robins, with about a third of those not having insurance. They provide preventive and primary health services.

“This funding will help Georgia health centers remain open, invest in upgrades, and better serve our communities. Sen. Rev. Warnock and I will continue working to deliver the resources necessary to fight COVID-19,” said Sen. Ossoff.

The Senators helped pass the American Rescue Plan earlier in 2021.

“I am proud to have supported the American Rescue Plan that continues to provide the necessary funding for our overwhelmed hospitals, overworked staffs, and recovering communities across our state,” said Sen. Reverend Warnock. “We must continue to do all we can to provide support and funding to our health care infrastructure and workers on the frontlines of this pandemic.”
