MACON, Ga.-- Tenita Shoats, the woman accused of fatally shooting her husband in January, bonded out of jail on Wednesday.

Authorities say Shoats told deputies that she shot her husband, Vernon Shoats Sr. with his own gun after a physical altercation at their Hidden Lakes Apartment in West Macon.

In initial reports by investigators, Shoats said the two had been arguing earlier in the day and that she later came out of her bedroom to find her husband holding a gun.

At that point she said they began arguing and pushing each other.

Shoats was indicted by a Grand Jury on April 18th on charges of malice murder and felony murder in connection to her husband's death.

According to Bibb County Superior Court documents, Shoats was previously granted $100,000 bond in February and it was reduced to $50, 000 on November 9th.

Vernon Shoats' death marked Macon-Bibb county's first homicide of 2017.
