Macon woman charged in murder of north Ga. man connected to multiple past violent acts
BIBB COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) - The woman arrested for the murder of a north Georgia man in Macon was just cleared of a violent crime earlier in 2023.
Amanda Hulsey was arrested this week and charged with the murder of Olico Dennis, who was in Middle Georgia on a work assignment. Investigators believe Hulsey, and another man, shot Dennis and then dumped his body in Crawford County.
Hulsey made headlines in February 2022 after she was arrested in connection to an infant's death. At the time, investigators said her arrest came after Atrium Health Navicent staff contacted the Department of Family and Children’s Services on February 6, 2022, about an injured 6-month-old infant named Major Williams with internal injuries. The infant was taken to the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta later in the evening of February 6 for specialized medical care but died on February 9. An autopsy by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab showed that the baby's death appeared to have been caused by brain bleeding from abusive head trauma. Also arrested in connection to the infant's death was Tyrek Dixon, Hulsey's boyfriend at the time. Dixon was indicted on a murder charge in March 2023. At the same time, the charges against Hulsey were dropped.
Hulsey pleaded guilty in 2021 to aggravated assault and terroristic threats and acts and also faced drug charges in 2015. She was also charged in a Houston County prostitution sting in 2014.
