Macon's newest new station almost ready for air

MACON, Ga. -- Macon's newest radio station is finishing up its new studios.

Work is wrapping up on the new downtown offices for "The Creek" 100.9 FM.

The studios will actually be based downtown upstairs next to The Rookery Restaurant and is set to open in just a few weeks.

"We're going to lean more toward roots music", said Co-Owner Brad Evans. "Classic Country, Blues, just that Americana format. We will be doing shows on Friday afternoon for example. We'll be doing a show that's all soul and funk music that kind of gets people fired up for the weekend".

The station promises to bring a local flavor to a market dominated in recent years by corporate radio programming.

Owners plan to even invite local bands in for live performances.

That format is supposed to start up on Friday, July 8th at 10:09 a.m.

They chose the time because of the station's 100.9 frequency on the dial.

The station will cover from Monroe County down south toward Crisp County.
