Downtown Challenge grants will pay for 21 new projects in Macon Bibb, according to the Community Foundation of Central Georgia. Local organization like the John S. and James Knight Foundations and The Peyton Anderson Foundation contribute to the 480-thousand dollars being given out.

"These grants are important for downtown because it's an opportunity to provide the fuel for the Macon Action Plan. We have this wonderful detailed plan that will drive the economics of Macon. It's a prosperous place to live," said Kathryn Dennis with the Community Foundation of Central Georgia.

The grants help bring more economic development to downtown.
