UPDATE -- WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ga. -- Deputies say the fatal Twiggs County house fire from this past weekend started in the kitchen from the stove.

The fire took place at 14960 Hwy. 80 in Jeffersonville on Saturday at 12:26 a.m.

"First responders were able to remove the unconscious person through one of the bedroom windows," Twiggs County Sheriff's Office says.

Medical officials were unable to revive the person. They were later identified as 32-year-old Shaneka Anntrell Basley, pronounced dead on the scene.

Officials say Basley died of smoke and carbon monoxide inhalation.

"At this time, there is no evidence that has been found to indicate arson or that the fire was intentionally set," deputies say.
