Pedestrian accident leaves Cordele 11-year-old in 'critical condition'
CORDELE, Ga. -- Cordele police said an 11-year-old is in "critical condition with a head injury" after being hit while trying to cross Highway 280.
A release from the Cordele Police Department said the accident happened in the 1500 block of Highway 280/16th Ave. in front of a Wendy's.
The 11-year-old and a 13-year-old were reportedly trying to cross the street when a Nissan Maxima hit one of them. The 13-year-old wasn't hurt, the release said.
The injured child was taken to Crisp Regional Hospital and the driver of the Nissan Maxima is cooperating with investigators, according to the release.
“This is truly a sad accident, we will keep the child and his family in our thoughts and prayers as we monitor his status," said Lt. Andrew Roufs with the Cordele Police Department.
