The pedestrian fatality review board held its monthly meeting on Tuesday at the Government Center in Macon.

Their focus is to reduce pedestrian deaths in Macon-Bibb County.

Former Director of Georgia Highway Safety Bob Dallas presented the "Vision Zero" initiative. It states that no deaths on the roadway is acceptable, whether it be a motorist, cyclist or pedestrian.

But Dallas said the focus is on pedestrians.

"And the reason is they're the most vulnerable road user," he said. "And by focusing on the most vulnerable road user, then it makes it safe for both the cyclist as well as the motorist."

Dallas said 39 states, including Georgia, have implemented the "Vision Zero" initiative.
