Plan approved to turn Alexander IV into senior living facility

Alexander IV Elementary School has been approved to be turned into a senior living facility/Evan Watson (WGXA)

MACON, Ga. -- Macon-Bibb Planning and Zoning approved a plan to turn Alexander IV Elementary School into a senior home on Monday, Dec. 11.

Dover Development is purchasing the property and will remodel the facility into a senior living center.

Planning and zoning held the task of rezoning the building for multi-family residential district from a single-family residential district. The purpose for the rezoning is to allow for multi-family housing and preserve the historic buildings in the facility.

Steve Wilson, an attorney who lives in the Ingleside neighborhood, said that he and his neighbors are pleased to see the building saved and utilized for a good purpose.
