Police believe motive for Warner Robins homicide was armed robbery

    WARNER ROBINS, Ga. -- Warner Robins police believe the motive for the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old woman is armed robbery.

    A release from the Warner Robins police department said detectives believe the accused shooter, 38-year-old Rodney Wayne Helms, was brought to Natasha Reyes' home on Maplewood Dr. by a friend.

    Police said Helms, Reyes and the friend spent some time at Reyes' home before the shooting happened. According to the release, Helms tried to rob Reyes when he allegedly shot her.

    Detectives said Helms sustained injuries to his face prior to getting arrested and are looking into how he became injured. According to the release, the attached mugshot is a prior booking photo and doesn't show his injuries.

    According to the release, Helms is currently charged with aggravated assault and felony murder, but more charges are possible.
