THURSDAY MORNING: Rain, thunderstorms to continue through the weekend

More rain is projected to move into our area this evening.

MACON, Ga -- Middle Georgia has received it's fare share of rainfall over the last few days. More rain and even a few thunderstorms are projected to move in Thursday afternoon.

Since Monday, most of the rain that has moved into the mid-state has occurred during the afternoon and evening. A few thunderstorms have been observed, however the bigger issue with this low pressure center is the heavy rain.

Small pockets of heavy rain is where a majority of the rainfall has come from. These quick heavy showers can create low visibility along with bad driving conditions.

Over the past 60 hours, we have averaged around half an inch of rain all across the area. Some isolated areas like Lizella and Peach county have seen close to four inches of rain in under four days.

Rain is possible every day through the end of next week, but our best chances to see heavy rain again will come Friday and Saturday.
