Rutland High School: teacher / student altercation
MACON, Ga -- A teacher is on administrative leave after letting a student punch him, according to a statement from Bibb County Schools.
BCSD Communications Director says, "Yesterday during 7th period, 1:45-2:35 p.m., a male teacher asked a student wandering around the classroom to return to his seat."
The release goes on to say the 15-year-old student did not comply and the teacher then shoved the student back into his seat.
The teacher apologized and told the student that after class he'd give the student the opportunity to shove the teacher back.
After school dismissal the teacher and student went to the bathroom.
According to the release that's when the student "forcefully" hit the teacher.
Injuries at this time are unknown.
The teacher is on administrative leave.
The principal sent out a message to parents.
This incident is under investigation by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
