Sheriff: Former officer's family loses home, belongings in devastating fire

TELFAIR COUNTY, Ga. -- Telfair County's sheriff has asked the community to step in after a Lumber City family lost their home in a fire Tuesday night.

Sheriff Chris Steverson said that everyone is safe. Steverson added that the home belonged to Jimmy Adams, a former police chief in Lumber City and deputy sheriff.

Deputies said the family now needs food, toiletries, and clothes. The sizes for the clothing are:

  • Girl - size three junior pants and small woman's/junior's shirt
  • Girl - size eight pants and shirts
  • Boy - size five to six boy's pants and shirts
  • Man - 36x30 pants and size large shirts

Anyone who can donate items can call Jimmy Adams directly at 912-551-3077.

Items can also be dropped off to Lt. Sim Davidson with the Teflair County Sheriff's Office at 19 East Oak Street in McRae. Davidson can be reach at 229-868-6621, 229-212-2405, or telfairsochaplain@yahoo.com.
