Store owner fires back during attempted armed robbery

MACON, Ga.-- Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating an attempted armed robbery at a convenience store in West Macon.

According to a release, employees at the Tom’s Mart located at 4381 Mercer University Drive were locking up the store just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, when they noticed a man dark clothes running towards them with a gun.

Investigators say the store employees began running towards their cars and that's when the man fired several shots at them. The owner of the Yong Kim, 64, of Macon who was in his car in the parking lot got out and fired multiple shots into the air. The suspect immediately left the area.

No one was hurt during the exchange of gunfire, but several cars had damage to the windows. Investigators have no additional information about the suspect.
