SUNDAY UPDATE: Svr. storms possible Tuesday, Weather Warn Day issued

Severe Weather is possible across Middle Georgia on Election Day/WGXA Weather

MACON, Ga. - New data continues to suggest severe weather is possible Tuesday, especially north of Macon.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed areas north of Macon at a 2 out of 5 threat level. Due to this threat, the WGXA Weather team has issued a Weather Warn Day for Tuesday in advance of this severe weather threat.

New data analyzed Sunday morning suggests the risk for strong to severe storms will begin early Tuesday in northwest Georgia. That threat will shift south during the day. The threat for severe weather in Middle Georgia will increase starting around lunchtime and lasting into the afternoon hours.

The main threats we are tracking are strong, potentially damaging, wind gusts, brief tornadoes and heavy rain.

This threat remains days away. Changes in timing, impacts and the strength of this system remain possible.

With Tuesday being Election Day, we advise voting earlier in the day based on current forecast trends. Polls will open at 7 a.m. Tuesday and will remain open until 7 p.m.
