There’s a little something for everyone at the Museum of Aviation, which has been a part of the community since 1984.

President and CEO of the Museum of Aviation Foundation Darlene McLendon says there's a little "something for everybody here.”

Its mission is to share Air Force history with all Georgians.

”It was created from a community dream, in partnership with the Air Force. And so we are so excited to expand that story," says McClendon.

Officials say the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame, which is onsite at the Museum of Aviation, offers unique aviation artifacts that are specific to Georgia.

“We have the SR-71, which broke the speed record. We also have a displayed statue to Eugene Bullord, who was the first African-American fighter pilot," says McClendon.

The museum is owned by the US Air Force.

"The foundation plays the role expansion of the museum for different improvements bringing in traveling exhibits extra things that the facility needs," says McClendon.

And its 300-plus volunteers help bring the exhibits to life.
