Toys For Tots is coming to Middle Georgia

MACON, Ga -- Christmas is right around the corner and Toys For Tots wants you to know you can help make sure all children have a gift under the tree.

Founded by the Marine Corps in 1947, Toys For Tots is a program designed to help children , ages ranging from 0-14 who are less fortunate. The program believes giving back is not just a donation, but also a way to make a difference in the community.

On December 8, 2018, registration will be hosted by Albany Toys for Tots at the Milledgeville Housing Authority from 10am until 3pm. For registration, you must bring the child's birth certificate and another document showing proof of residency.

Cpl. Shereka Slater, with Albany Toys for Tots, says this year will be her first time participating in the program. Cpl. Slater says, "it's amazing to be able to put a smile on a child's face." She adds that, to her, it's more than an honor, and it makes her happy to be able to give back.

During the Christmas holidays, Toys for Tots places boxes at many different businesses and hosts events to accept toy donations for children in need. They do, however, request that the toys you bring be wrapped, brand new, and unused. Along with the toys, they also accept donations. Administrators are open to suggestion for new drop box locations. If you see a location where you'd like to put a Toys For Tots box, call 478-696-0281.
