PERRY, Ga. -- The Houston County Board of Education approved cafeteria renovations at Perry Middle School and David Perdue Primary School.

It's all an effort by the county school nutrition program to create more inviting environments for the kids.

A main goal is education even at lunch time. The new cafeterias will have designs with nutritional facts.

"It's important to bring the classroom into the cafeteria," said Meredith Potter, Director of School Nutrition. "Students spend a significant amount of time, whether they are eating breakfast in here or lunch or having a meeting in here so it's a way to partner with the school."

The Perry Middle design will gear more toward school pride. Their lunchroom walls will have their panther mascot and facts about their afters school clubs.

The renovations will total $80,000.
