Vehicle stolen after woman leaves car running to buy cigarettes, coffee

MACON, Ga. -- The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is investigating vehicle theft that happened in the 4000 block of Chambers Rd. just before 1:30 a.m. on March 15.

A sheriff's office report says that the victim told a deputy she left her vehicle running outside while she went into the Circle K for some coffee and cigarettes.

The victim alleges that when she got to the register to add gasoline to her transaction, she looked outside to check which pump her car was at and noticed it was gone.

According to the report, the store clerk said that she saw a man lingering around the store. She told the deputy that at first, the man was walking around without a cover over his face, but when she saw him hanging around the gas pumps he had placed his hood over his head around the time the vehicle went missing.
