PUTNAM COUNTY, Ga. -- Friends and family of the Jackeda and Shamaylaka Ellison gathered for a candlelight vigil to honor their lives.

Jackeda, 37, and her daughter Shamaylaka,9, were killed in a wreck last Wednesday.

On Thursday, their loved ones returned to the spot of the accident at the intersection of Highway 441 and Imperial Rd. Now, there are crosses and flowers at the site.

Putnam County deputies also paid their respects at the vigil.

Those in attendance prayed over the accident site.

A friend of Jackeda spoke and said she was a big part of their community. She often took care of children in the area. She even had a trip planned for them at the Georgia National Fair next month.

It was reported that Jackeda tried to cross the highway but didn't make it in time.
