WARNER ROBINS, Ga. (WGXA) -- The Tunnel to Towers Foundation presented the family of a fallen U.S. Marine with a new mortgage-free home in observance of Memorial Day.
The home went to the family of Lance Corporal Ronald Freeman, who gave his life to protect his infantry team from an Improvised Explosive Device in 2011.
Lance Corporal Freeman lost his life on his daughter's first birthday and just ten days after his son was born.
“To all of the families who know the true meaning of Memorial Day, I thank you for your service and sacrifice," said Tunnel to Towers Foundation Chairman and CEO Frank Siller. "We know that no service member serves alone. It is our honor to support these families who have sacrificed so much so we can all enjoy the freedoms America has to offer.”
The house was awarded to his wife, Katie, and their two children in Warner Robins. This is one of 30 houses or mortgage payoffs from the Tunnel of Towers Foundation to Gold Star families and families of fallen first responders across the country.
