MACON, Ga. -- Bibb County fire crews responded to a potential fire hazard at a west Macon apartment complex Wednesday night.
Fire crews told WGXA they went to Crystal Lake Apartments, located on Crystal Lake Circle, because of a reported electrical issue in one of the building units that could have caused a fire.
Officials said those residents have been evacuated and that the Red Cross had been contacted, but added that the Red Cross wouldn't be at the site until after midnight Thursday.
Macon-Bibb County mayor pro tem Al Tillman posted a video to his Facebook page Wednesday afternoon that addressed reported water concerns at Crystal Lake Apartments.
Residents reportedly had their water turned off because apartment management hadn't paid their bill to the Macon Water Authority, Tillman said.
He then took to Facebook to tell the community he's been in touch with county leaders to make sure residents get their water back.
Tillman's post said:
I have visited the property and spoken to and met with several community leaders today, and they all agree we needed to turn the water back on for the safety and well being of our residents. Thank you to The Macon Water Authority for their help and support.
The property owners have not paid the bill as of today. Anyone with knowledge of the new company name or contact numbers please reach out to me asap. 1-Love.
