MACON, Ga.-- Bibb County Sheriff’s investigators are working a homicide which now leaves a woman dead and another woman injured, following an early morning shooting just hours into Mother's Day.
Deputies say the shooting happened just after 3 A.M on Sunday, at a home located at 2765 Lakeshore Avenue in East Macon. According to a release, it was reported Demetrice Bell, 37, and her Father Benny Bell, 67, had gotten into an altercation when Demetrice had arrived at home.
During the altercation Benny retrieved a handgun which lead to a struggle between the father and daughter, deputies say that's when Thelma Bell, 65, was shot in the lower abdomen and Demetrice Bell was shot in the chest by her father.
Demetrice was pronounced dead on scene by the Macon-Bibb Coroner’s Office. Thelma was taken to the Medical Center at Navicent Health and is now listed in stable condition. No one else was injured during the incident.
Benny Bell has since been arrested and now charged with aggravated assault and murder.
