Byron woman charged for using copied signature for prescriptions, stealing $8,000

MACON, Ga. -- 48-year-old Robin Jones Smith was indicted in Bibb County Court Tuesday, charged with forgery in the first degree, theft by taking and practicing medicine without a license.

Starting in 2015, Smith is accused of knowingly using the photocopied signature of another person to give out prescriptions.

Court documents say that she took $8,324 in money and medication from Metabolic Research Center and publicly presented herself as “being engaged in the treatment of disease of human beings without having in her possession a valid license to practice medicine” in Georgia.
