WRPD report SWAT called on Tyson Glen Drive after barricade ends in suicide

UPDATE 7:15 p.m.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. -- Warner Robins Police Department reports that officers were dispatched at 3:11 p.m. to the 300 block of Tyson Glen Drive in reference to a welfare check.

Once officers arrived they made contact with a person who had sent texts alluding to committing suicide.

While they attempted to make contact at the home, a shot was fired within.

All first responders at this point went to a safer position and the SWAT team was activated.

All attempts to make contact with the person within the home were not successful. The SWAT team breached the front door with a robot and other tools.

Within the home, they discovered the gunshot was self-inflicted.

The Houston County Coroner responded to the scene, as did the WRPD Forensic Unit and Investigations.

Warner Robins Police stated, "Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family of the deceased."

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. -- Warner Robins police have responded to an armed person who has barricaded themselves in a building on Tyson Glen Drive.

That's according to Warner Robins Police Chief John Wagner, who states that it began as a wellness check call in which at least one shot was fired.

Chief Wagner says the shot was fired as officers tried to make contact with the subject. He says that SWAT has been activated and also hasn't been able to get in touch with the person.
