Middle Tennessee man charged with hate crime after beating man who 'propositioned' him
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- A 24-year-old is accused of a hate crime in Murfreesboro on Tuesday after severely beating man who "propositioned" him.
According to Murfreesboro Police, the victim says he "propositioned" 24-year-old Brandon Wiley, who then assaulted him. Police say the victim was beaten to the point where he suffered a broken nose and fractures to both orbital sockets.
Wiley admitted to striking the victim to police and investigators say Wiley had sent out several photos of himself covered in blood and bragging about beating up a gay man for "grabbing" his crotch. However, police say video of the incident and of earlier activities between the two men were not consistent with Wiley's statements.
Wiley has been charged with aggravated assault with the enhancement of a hate crime.
