Town Hall: Unmasking Opioids in Middle Georgia

    MACON, Ga. -- Join Sinclair Broadcast Group and River Edge Behavioral Health for a town hall on the effect of opioids in Middle Georgia.

    The National Institute of Drug Abuse reported that in Georgia alone, there were 918 opioid-related deaths in 2016.

    In 2013, Georgia health providers wrote 90 opioid prescriptions for every 100 people -- that's about nine million prescriptions overall.

    The town hall will stream live on WGXA.TV Thursday, February 21, from Macon, at 7 p.m. (EST)/4 p.m. (PST). You can also watch it on ABC 16 starting at 7 p.m.
