Memorial of 7,000 shoes placed near US Capitol for children killed in school shootings

    A monument built out of 7,000 pairs of shoes was placed in front of the Capitol lawn Tuesday to represents the lives of each child lost since the Sandyhook Elementary School shooting.

    The monument comes ahead of the March for our Lives that is expected to bring thousands of gun control advocates to D.C. on Saturday, March 24.

    Shoe donations were accepted at the following locations through the close of Monday:
