SAVANNAH, Ga. -- The Macon Bacon won't be taking the field for the first time until May 31 when they travel to Savannah to take on the in-state rival Bananas. Even though this game is over four months away, the Bananas announced today that the season opener for the Bacon will be a sellout.

This is only the second home opener for the Bananas, whose inaugural season was last year, but it marks the 33rd consecutive sellout for the Bananas at Grayson stadium.

A press release from the Bananas said the in-state rivalry that's already formed between the two teams has created a heightened sense of excitement for this year's season opener.

The Bacon's home opener will be the very next day, Jun. 1 when they welcome the Lexington County Blowfish to Luther Williams Field.

Tickets for that game and the rest of the games in this inaugural season are still available on the Bacon's website.
