Bears notch 19th consecutive win in blowout fashion
MACON, Ga. -- The Mercer Bears (22-2, 9-0) beat the Wofford Terriers (10-14, 3-6) 80-39 on Saturday afternoon at Hawkins Arena in front of the fourth-largest women's basketball crowd in school history (2,327).
The Bears struggled in the first quarter with the mismatched Terriers, only building a 17-12 lead. However, the Bears outscored Wofford 63 to 27 in the final three quarters to cruise to their 19th straight win.
KeKe Calloway led Mercer with 18 points while Kahlia Lawrence added 15. The Bears' defense was lights out forcing 16 turnovers and 10 steals.
The all-time program record for consecutive wins is 24 and the Bears will have a chance to beat that mark before season's end. Their focus remains on the next game, however, as they host Samford next Saturday.
