SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Mercer guard KeKe Calloway has been named the women's basketball Player of the Month by the Southern Conference. The conference announced the honor Monday afternoon in a press release.

The junior from Mary Persons High School averaged 21.4 points per game in the month of January and helped the Bears complete a 7-0 record. Calloway scored career-highs in back-to-back games during January with 34 against Wofford and then 40 points against Furman. She also tied the NCAA record for most three pointers in a game with 12.

Calloway scored her 1,000th career point against Western Carolina last month as well. She has already set a new Mercer single-season record for threes made with 78 and ranks fifth in the country in that category.

Calloway and Mercer have now won 19 straight games and look to make it an even 20 on Saturday when they host Samford at Hawkins Arena.
