Late mistakes cost Mercer WBB against Florida State

    The Mercer Women's Basketball team had every opportunity to pick up a big win on Wednesday night, but they were not able to come through. The Bears fell to Florida State 57-56 at Hawkins Arena. Mercer drops to 4-5 on the season.

    The Bears were led by Keke Calloway who had 21 points. Amanda Thompson chipped in with a career high 18 points and a team high 8 rebounds. The Seminoles were led by Nicki Ekhomu who had 27 points. She hit a pair of big shots down the stretch that gave Florida State the lead. Fort Valley native Nauisa Woolfork had 12 points. The Bears dominated in the paint outscoring the Seminoles 34-20. They forced 16 turnovers and were only out rebounded by 3. However they shot under 30 percent from the field in the 2nd half, and missed big shots down the stretch.

    Up next, the Bears will host Charlotte on Sunday. Tipoff will be at 1 pm.
