Mercer Baseball drops Game 2; loses series to Samford

The woes in the Southern Conference continued for the Mercer Baseball team on Saturday afternoon. The Bears fell to Samford 6-1. They have now dropped 5 out of their last 6. Mercer is now 26-11 on the season and 6-5 in the Southern Conference.

The Bulldogs were led by Ayrton Schafer and Anthony Mulrine who each had 2 RBIs. Samuel Strickland (6-0) picked up the win going 6 and two thirds innings giving up 1 run off of 6 hits.

Chase Burks (4-3) went 5 and two thirds innings giving up 4 runs off of 6 hits in the loss for the Bears. Jordan Ammons knocked in Mercer's only run in the top of the 7th. Ammons and Alex Hanson had 2 hits on the afternoon.

The two will conclude the series on Sunday afternoon at 2 pm.
