Mercer Baseball swept by UNC Greensboro

The trip to North Carolina did not go as planned for the Mercer Baseball team. The Bears fell 7-1 on Monday afternoon to UNC Greensboro as the Spartans completed the 3 game sweep. The Bears are 31-18 overall and 10-11 in the Southern Conference.

The Bears mustered just 1 run off of 8 hits. That lone run came off the bat from RJ Yeager in the 3rd. The Spartans were led by Andrew Mortiz who had 3 RBIs. Caleb Webster had 4 hits and run, while Tripp Shelton chipped in with 3 hits. Chase Burks (5-4) took the loss for Mercer going 4 1/3 innings while giving up 4 runs off of 7 hits.

Up next, the Bears will return to OrthoGeorgia Park on Friday to start a 3 game series with Alcorn State. First pitch will be at 6 pm.
