Mercer MBB drops opener to UAB


The Mercer Men's Basketball team was looking to start the 2018-19 season off on a high note, however UAB had other plans. The Bears fell to the Blazers on the road 75-67. They start off the year at 0-1.

The Bears were led by Djordje Dimitrijevic who had 19 points. Ethan Stair was not far behind with 12 points. Jaylen Stowe chipped in with 11 points and a team high 7 rebounds. The Blazers were led by Jalen Perry who had 16 points.

Mercer shot 35 percent from the field and were outrebounded by 8. Neither team shot well from three point range. The Bears were 23 percent, and the Blazers were 17 percent from beyond the arch.

Up next, the Bears will host Piedmont College on Friday night at Hawkins Arena. Tipoff will be at 7 pm.
