Mercer scores huge road win at #25 Western Carolina

CULLOWHEE, NC -- Bobby Lamb's Mercer Bears (5-5, 4-4) ended the SoCon schedule with a signature victory taking down #25 Western Carolina (7-4, 5-3) 35-33 Saturday afternoon.

After jumping out to a quick 28-20 lead at the half, the Bears held off a late Catamounts charge for the victory. Tee Mitchell led the Bears with 120 yards on 26 carries adding a touchdown while Alex Lakes added 87 yards and a pair of rushing scores. The Bears controlled the game on the ground racking up 227 rushing yards.

Lee Bennett led the Bears with a game-high 16 tackles while Eric Jackson finished with 14 on the afternoon.

Tyrie Adams filled up the stat sheet for the Catamounts going 35-47 for 378 yards and three touchdowns while adding 60 yards rushing with a score on the ground.

Mercer finishes the season 4-4 in SoCon play. The Bears wrap up the regular season next week at Alabama.
