TUSCON, Ariz. -- Collegiate Baseball released its 2018 Freshman All-American team earlier this morning, and two Mercer Bears were named among the country's best freshman for this past season.

Shortstop R.J. Yeager and second baseman/designated hitter Le Bassett were both named to the team.

Yeager hit .324 in his first season in Macon with six homeruns, 53 runs scored, and 42 runs driven in. He hit .319 in Southern Conference play, which also earned him SoCon freshman of the year honors.

Bassett proved himself to be one of the top power threats in the conference -- he led the SoCon with 17 home runs in his freshman year. He also paced the Bears with 60 RBIs while hitting .282 for the season.

The Bears' freshman duo are two of six SoCon freshman to be named to Collegiate Baseball's Freshman All-American team, and two of the only three players from the state of Georgia to be selected.
