Todd Pund introduced as President of Macon CPL Team
MACON, GA -- Just a few short weeks after the announcing baseball's return to Macon, the front office for the new Coastal Plain League team is beginning to take shape.
Thursday afternoon, Team Owner Steve DeLay introduced his newest hire, Team President Todd Pund. With more than 20 years of professional baseball experience, Pund is ready to try something new in a great baseball area.
"I think the biggest sell is Macon's baseball tradition," Pund said. "Also for the opportunity to start something new in from what I understand is a great community."
Pund comes to Macon after two years as the Director of Ticket Sales for the Gwinnett Braves. After years of working with MLB affiliations like the St. Louis Cardinals, Tampa Bay Rays and the Detroit Tigers, Pund looks forward to leading the charge for the newest CPL addition.
"I'm really excited to get back in the saddle where I can help lead the decision, lead the direction of organization," Pund said, "and create something that you guys will be proud of."
As a summer league for college baseball players, the CPL gives opportunity for its teams to be more creative and involve themselves more in the community than squads in other leagues.
"The Coastal Plain League is a league we can have a lot of fun with," Pund said. "There's strict rules in affiliated ball. This will allow us to utilize our players and our staff to be more involved in the community, do great things on the field, and provide more entertainment than you can do at your other minor league ballparks."
Pund and DeLay travel to Holly Springs, North Carolina this weekend for the Coastal Plain League All-Star Weekend. DeLay says next up on the team's agenda is building a coaching staff.
