After going 2-8 last year, it was time for a change in Kathleen. Veterans brought in Milan Turner to be the head coach. A man who wanted to be in Houston County. "Its a great community, great school system, and great leadership. Its definitely a great place to live and raise a family. Football is really good in this area as well. Just seemed like a good opportunity and a good fit" said Turner.
The Warhawks have adapted to the changes well in the offseason. Getting used to the new staff and a new way of doing things. "There's been tremendous buy in and they've done everything we've asked them to do. I think they're excited and ready to play and strap it on and hit somebody else that's in another color jersey."
One of the strengths of this team will be on special teams. Led by senior punter Parker Lee. Who was a 1st team preseason all-state selection. "Its always helpful to give each other tips. We have a sophomore kicking 50 yard field goals right now. Just being able to tip each other is the bes thing we can do for each other. Just to help each other as a team" said Lee.
Veterans will also return a lot of depth on offense. Led by its two headed attack at QB in Sebastian Verger and Kedrek Smith. "We got two good quarterbacks in Seb Verger and Kedrck who is very talented. He does a tremendous job when he's in there. Either one of those guys can do a great job for us as a trigger man" said Turner.
The goal for the Warhawks in 2018 is simple, make the postseason. One of the many goals Turner and company want to achieve. "When the grass turns brown is when you still want to be playing. We want to compete for a region title. We want to play in the playoffs and make a run for the crown. I think if you have any goals other than that, you're wasting your time."
