FORSYTH, Ga -- The Mary Persons Bulldogs have been one of, if not, the best team in Middle Georgia in 2018.
The Bulldogs have scored over 40 points in every game it's played this season except one. Tonight, it didn't happen as the Marist Eagles came in to Forsyth for the GHSA playoff quarterfinal and upset the Bulldogs 10-7 in a defensive thriller.
The elements were cold and rainy for most of the evening with a slight wind, causing the passing game for Mary Persons to take a hit.
Quen Wilson had a red zone touchdown for the Bulldogs which game them a late 7-0 lead. Marist would answer right back with a quarterback sneak by Connor Cigelske.
A late field goal was enough to put the game away for good for the Eagles as Mary Persons was unable to drive down the field on its final drive.
Marist moves on to the state semifinal and will play Cartersville next week.
