DEXTER, Ga. -- Three teams entered West Laurens High School with hopes of heading to the playoffs, one of them, the Southwest Patriots. For the second straight season, the Patriots are going dancing.

The Patriots beat the Washington County Golden Hawks 6-3 in the first game of a mini playoff for AA region three.

Washington County went on top 3-0 in the first of two five minute quarters and the Patriots had no answer for nine minutes of the mini-game. However, with five seconds left in regulation, Jordan Slocum hit Montez Askew in the back corner of the end zone as time expired to beat WACO 6-3 and punch their ticket to the GHSA AA state playoffs.

Southwest will travel to Jefferson County for their first round playoff game on Friday night.
