HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga -- The Houston County Sharks won the 2018 State Wheelchair Basketball Championship on Thursday.

The Sharks beat the West Georgia Wolverines, 36-27, in the American Association of Adapted Sports Program tournament for the state title at the Macon Coliseum.

This is the Varsity Sharks’ 6th basketball championship in a row in 10 school years.

The team consists of the following players:

• Tajah Battle, David Perdue Elementary;

• Emanuel Dawson, Huntington Middle;

• Ca’ron Harris, Northside Middle;

• O’Lando Hicks, Warner Robins High;

• Jordan Kozloski, Houston County High;

• Annabelle Putman, Perry High;

• Grace Putnam, Perry High;

• Gavin Siens, Hilltop Elementary;

• Elianna Stevens, Feagin Mill Middle; and

• Madison Watts, Warner Robins High.

The game coincided with the Georgia High School Association basketball state championship tournament.

Christy Jones, orthopedic impaired teacher, is the area coordinator of the program. In addition to Jones, the Sharks coaches are: Anna Henry, Langston Road Elementary; Stephen Roberson, Adapted PE Specialist; and Bryan Watts, Warner Robins High.
