Telfair County falls in public A state finals

ATHENS, Ga. -- The Telfair County Lady Trojans' run in the state tournament ends in disappointment after falling to Pelham 60-42 in the GHSA girls public A state title game on Wednesday afternoon.

India Wells led the way for the Lady Trojans, knocking down 9-of-27 shots for a game-high 24 points. Mahogany Randall for Pelham scored 18 to lead the Lady Hornets.

Telfair County finishes the season 26-3 and runners-up, but head coach Shalonda Troupe had nothing but good things to say about her team post game.

"This team playing together and the motivation and encouragement they've had this season has brought Telfair County together," said Troupe. "They got a lot of supporters here and I feel like we gave our best effort. We left it out there on the floor and we look forward to being at this position again next year."

The state champion Lady Hornets finish the season 30-1.
