FORT VALLEY, Ga. -- The city of Fort Valley decided the Peach County football team deserved to be celebrated. Saturday afternoon, citizens lined the streets of downtown to cheer on the Trojans and congratulate them on a successful 2017 season that ended in a state runner-up finish after a 10-6 loss to Calhoun last month.

There has been plenty of controversy surrounding that loss in the state championship to Calhoun including an incomplete pass call on fourth down that turned the ball over for the Trojans in the fourth quarter. However, Peach County head coach Chad Campbell says that the parade was about the kids and focusing on their great season rather than a missed call.

"I think people know and understand what happened toward the end of the ball game," said Campbell, "(Fort Valley) wanted to recognize these guys as well they should because they had a tremendous year."

Campbell also said that he has not heard back from the GHSA regarding his team's appeal of the controversial call in the AAA state championship game.

Peach County finished the 2017 season with a record of 13-2 and a region title.
