MACON, Ga. -- The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) announced on Thursday that the annual GHSA basketball championships will once again return to the the Macon Centreplex.

The venue served as the host of the state's high school basketball championships since 1968 until last year, when the GHSA announced that the event would be moving to the campuses of University of Georgia and Georgia Tech.

Four classes of the state basketball championships as well as the entire Traditional State Wrestling Tournament will now be held at the Centreplex for the 2017-2018 school year.

The four classifications will hold their games in Macon on March 7 and 8, 2018. The other four classes will play at Georgia Tech on March 9 and 10, 2018.

The GHSA said Thursday that Spectra's advances to the venue were key in the decision to return.

The Macon-Bibb County Commission voted for Spectra to take over management of the Centreplex in May 2016.

Spectra announced on Thursday that there will be no charge for parking at future GHSA wresting and basketball events at the Centreplex.

Additionally, Spectra's General Manager of the Centreplex David Aiello said that Macon-Bibb SPLOST funds will cover the cost of a new basketball court for the venue.
