WARNER ROBINS, Ga. -- The last time Veterans and Houston County met on the baseball field, it was no where near the matchup expected between two of the top baseball programs in middle Georgia. The Bears routed the Warhawks in Kathleen, 15-0.

Tonight, Veterans evened the season series, beating Houston County 6-3 in Warner Robins. This also evens up the records for both teams, with Veterans improving to 10-4 and Houston County falling to the same record.

Starting pitcher Derek Wylie was the star of the game on both sides of the ball. He went four innings as the winning pitcher, striking out six batters while only walking one and giving up an unearned run. Wylie also went 1-for-3 at the plate, driving in three of the Warhawks' six runs.

Seniors Leyton Pinckney and Ben Gibbs also added RBIs of their own, with Gibbs turning in the only multi-hit performance of the day for Veterans.

Both teams have region matchups in their next games. Houston County returns to action on Friday when the Bears host the Valdosta Wildcats at 6:00 p.m., and Veterans returns to action also on Friday when the Warhawks travel to Bainbridge for a 5:00 p.m. first pitch against the Bearcats.
