MACON, Ga. -- There was reason for skepticism when the Macon Mayhem traded the SPHL-leading scorer Darren McCormick to the Fayetteville Marksmen for Dakota Klecha. Klecha helped silence some of that skepticism by scoring his first goal in a Mayhem uniform in Macon's 4-2 win over the Knoxville Ice Bears Thursday night.

Klecha also assisted Caleb Cameron's first goal of the game with Jake Trask in the first five minutes of the first period. Macon out-shot Knoxville 14-3 in the opening frame.

“I thought we played really well tonight, especially offensively," head coach Kevin Kerr said after the game. "We did a great job controlling the puck and the pace of the play in the game. We let off a little bit after taking the three-goal lead, but we kept battling hard to get the much-needed win.”

It was also a good night for rookie goaltender Charlie Finn, who started his sixth straight game between the pipes tonight. That's the longest such streak for any Mayhem goalie this season. Finn won his 14th game tonight, which has him in third place in the Southern Professional Hockey League on the season.

The Mayhem return to action on Saturday when they travel to Hunstville, Ala. to take on the Havoc. Puck drops at 7:00 p.m.
